Let's Make New Memories, Shall We?

Firstly, Osman Samiuddin is a great writer and this article funnels all of the “1992 main kiya hua tha” connections into one place on ESPNCricinfo:

But I am not sure this is how a team should repeat its WC victory.

Couple of things as briefly as I can articulate here:

1) Remember there are 9 other teams in CWC 2019 that do NOT want to repeat what happened in 1992.

2) The best trend to repeat is a win streak. Not Loss, Washout, Loss, Loss streak. When India repeated the WC victory in 2011, they did NOT follow 1983 pattern... they created a new one (more on that term below). When Australia repeated their WC victories, the only commonality we could point to was their winning streak across 2003 and 2007 and 2015? But even in that, they did it in different ways, beating different teams. So they created new patterns too.

So these “new patterns” actually have a name. “New memories”.

Pakistan team and their fans need to let go of 1992 (u know what I mean - just keep it as a fond memory - but let go of it in terms of all these nonsense memes)...

AND MAKE NEW MEMORIES!!

Put together a new winning streak. Try to beat different teams... try to be a better team than “1992” or CT2017.

Work on weaknesses and eliminate them rather than repeating them like some sort of superstition.

So, I am glad that Pak team is looking to repeat what Ozzies did in 1999 WC in England rather than Pak in 1992.

Trying to emulate Australia is the best most positive attitude to adopt.

Let's create new, perhaps more enjoyable memories, shall we?
